Detective charges suspects in reference to thefts on Johnson Drive
Detective Billie Brown of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Jeremy David Simmons, 19, of Johnson Drive in Marion, with two felony counts each of larceny and obtaining property by false pretense. He was released from custody on a written promise to appear in court.
She also charged 18-year-old Bradley Scott Simmons and 23-year-old Tyler Dwayne Cox, both of Johnson Drive, with two felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense and one felony count of larceny. Cox was taken into custody in lieu of a $40,000 bond and Bradley Simmons in lieu of a $10,300 bond.
On Aug. 23, David John Hylemon, who is a neighbor of the three suspects, reported that someone stole $850 worth of items from his property, including a chainsaw, a weed trimmer, a dog kennel and guttering. All three were charged in this theft.
Hylemon also reported on Sept. 17 that someone took two wrenches and two pieces of I-beam, worth $400, from his property. Only Jeremy Simmons was charged in this incident.
Brown said much of the stolen property was sold for scrap.
