Full Notification

The Hamburg Township Police Department received two separate reports from residents regarding phone calls that they received today from someone purporting to be from Consumers Energy. During each phone call, a male subject identified himself as being from Consumers Energy and stated that Consumers Energy workers will be in the area doing work during a specific date and time. The subject then asked the homeowner if they would be home during that time frame and, if not, if they could secure their dog. The subject also asked the homeowner to confirm their address to see if it matched “Consumer Energy” records.
Consumers Energy was contacted and they report that they do not call residents and ask for this type of information. If you receive a phone call similar to this please do not provide any information. If you are unsure if a call is legitimate please hang up and call the company directly and contact your local police department.
