A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED ON A SCHOOL CAMPUS AND FOUND TO ALSO HAVE A FIREARM

Lancaster Station Deputies assigned to the Antelope Valley College arrested a Lancaster man for Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds. Suspect Lawrence Pickett was seen punching his girlfriend in the A.V. College parking lot. Suspect Pickett avoided deputies by running south bound across Avenue K and onto the Bethel Christian School Campus as students prepared to be dismissed.
Several quick thinking Bethel faculty members saw Suspect Pickett. They told him to leave and directed deputies to where the suspect was hiding on the campus. A .38 caliber pistol was recovered near the same location where Suspect Pickett was seen hiding.
Suspect Pickett was arrested for the weapon violation and Domestic Battery. He was booked at the Lancaster Station Jail and held on a $50,000 bond.
