Large bear in the area of Sierra Vista Hospital. Stay indoors.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department is alerting residents to a dangerous situation.

We have received numerous calls reporting a large 300+ pound bear in the city. Officers have tracked the bear to the immediate area surrounding Sierra Vista Hospital. The situation is still fluid with the bear freely roaming in and out of parking lots and backyards of houses.

If you live or are visiting this area you are urged to stay indoors, and bring any pets inside to ensure their safety.
