TPD offers a Map You Neighborhood program for disaster preparedness
The Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) program empowers neighborhoods to prepare for emergencies and disaster situations. The program can help save lives, reduce the severity of injuries and trauma, and reduce property damage. In addition, working together as a team and contributing as an individual develops stronger communities and improves the quality of life in the community. There is no cost to attend this training.
The MYN program was developed by Dr. LuAnn Johnson (Public Education Program Manager) from Washington State and is a simple 9 step program that is taught in one 90 minute session. The Torrance Police Department adopted this program in early 2008 as the official disaster prep training program for use in conjunction with the Neighborhood Watch program.
The only requirement for the program is that your neighborhood MUST first be a member of the Neighborhood Watch Program. If you are interested in signing up for Neighborhood Watch click the following link or call 310-618-6392/6391:
