LOCATION: 4300 Block of East Compton Boulevard, (Unincorporated) East Rancho Dominguez

Compton Sheriff's Station Deputies responded to a structure fire call in Unincorporated East Rancho Dominguez.

When they arrived, deputies observed the commercial business was engulfed in flames.

Twelve Los Angeles County Fire Department Companies responded.

During the height of the fire, several occupants were able to escape and later realized that there might have been other people trapped inside.

Firefighters attempted a rescue but were prevented from entering more than a few feet into the structure by flame and debris.

Firefighters were able to extinguished the fire; however the building sustained major damage. The LACoFD reports the fire was knocked down at 3:24AM.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Firefighters turned the case over to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Arson/Explosives Detail who began searching for signs of any trapped victims.

Around noon, two bodies were located in the debris. Detectives from Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Sheriff's Arson/ Explosive Detail are continuing their investigation into this incident.
