The MPD arrested James Dustin Marusak with the larceny of several tables from Wal-Mart and also Shane Hartness on several warrants.

On 8-25-13 the Marion Police Department received a report of an unknown suspect breaking into a locked case and removing 14 computer tablets from Walmart, along with grocery items. Photos of the suspect taking the items and leaving in an older model Chevrolet Suburban were distributed in the media and the public was encouraged to call Marion PD or Crimestoppers with any information. A Crimestopper tip was received on Sunday, September 1st of the possible suspect being at the Super 8 motel in Marion. Marion PD officers, along with deputies of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office went to Super 8 and located the suspect and another person. Both had outstanding warrants from Forsyth County. James Marusak was positively identified as the suspect taking the tablets from Walmart.
James Dustin Marusak, age 29 and Shane Aaron Hartness, age 33, both from Mocksville, were arrested on outstanding warrants and Marusak was charged with Felony Larceny, Safe Cracking, Possession of Schedule II narcotics and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hartness was charged with Possession of Schedule II narcotics and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Marusak received a $27,000 bond and Hartness at $22,000 bond. Their first court appearance is scheduled for 9-4-13.
