CHARGES PENDING AFTER DEPUTIES DISCOVER NEARLY 400 ROOSTERS BRED FOR FIGHTING

(HOUSTON, TX) – Criminal charges are pending against two men after Harris County Sheriff’s deputies discovered 377 roosters on their property, along with illegal drugs and money.

Deputies initially responded on August 23 to the property in the 14000 block of Sellers Road in north Harris County in response to a kidnapping complaint. No evidence of such a crime was found.

But deputies did make a discovery most fowl. The roosters were in cages at the rear of the property. They also confiscated three (3) kilos of cocaine found in a hidden compartment of a vehicle, marijuana, and over $40,000 in cash.

The roosters were used for so-called cock-fighting, which is illegal. They were confiscated and turned over to the SPCA.

Deputies with the Harris County Constable Precinct One’s Office and the SPCA assisted at the scene.

Video of the roosters can be found on the HCSO’s You Tube channel at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_6181dUUDc&feature=youtu.be
