August 12TH, 2013

Burglary- 6700 Block of Snowdon Avenue-
An unknown suspect kicked in the front door of the residence and conducted a moderate ransack. The loss is not known as of now. The theft occurred between the 5th at 1500 hours and the 12th at 1630 hours.

Residential Burglary and Arson – 6500 block of Manila Avenue
At 1915 hours, an officer was flagged down to the rear of the police department by a victim who stated that an unknown female suspect had entered his apartment and stolen items while he was at home. The victim confronted the suspect in the living room and the suspect fled. The victim and his roommate gave chase and noticed a garbage can on fire on the side of their building.The suspect abandoned the stolen property and continued northbound on Liberty Street where the victim’s lost sight of her. Shortly after, the manager of a property complex on Liberty Street phoned police to report a non resident female subject was naked in the apartment swimming pool. Officers contacted and arrested the 18 year old woman from Oakland and transported her to the El Cerrito Police Department where she was booked and later taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Avenue and Cutting Boulevard
At 0349 hours, an officer contacted a bicyclist and arrested the 28 year old woman from San Rafael for an outstanding $5,000 warrant issued by the El Cerrito Police Department earlier this year for theft and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. The officer booked the woman and then transported her to the Martinez Detention Facility.


August 13th, 2013

Stolen Vehicle- 2300 block of Tulare Avenue-
A citizen reports their 1989 Honda Civic was stolen on the 13th between 0400-0500 hours.

Burglary- 6600 Block of Portola Drive-
An unknown suspect reached through a pet door and was able to steal a jewelry box which was adjacent to the door. The theft occurred between the 9th at 0800 hours to the 10th at 0530 hours.

Shoplifting – Luckys 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1800 hours, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 37 year old woman from Richmond after she concealed items and left the store without paying for them. The woman was contacted by a loss prevention agent and escorted back into the store. The officer released the woman with a citation.


August 14th, 2013

Possession of stolen property, Conspiracy and Possession of a forged prescription- CVS Pharmacy 670 El Cerrito Plaza-
A 58 year-old Oakland woman was arrested for obtaining a forged prescription from a third party and attempted to pass it at CVS. The woman was booked at the ECPD and then released.

Petty Theft- 11450 San Pablo Avenue (Safeway)-
A 24 year-old woman from San Francisco was arrested by store security for stealing groceries from the business. The woman was released with a citation.

Injury Collision – Moeser Lane and King Drive
At 2010 hours, Officers responded to a report of an injury collision involving two vehicles at this intersection. A vehicle crossed the median northbound on King Drive directly in front of the path of another vehicle driving westbound in the number one lane of Moeser Lane. The driver of one vehicle was transported to the hospital with a complaint of leg pain. The other passengers were treated at the scene. A child restrained in a child’s safety seat was uninjured in the collision.

Assault on a Peace Officer – El Cerrito Police Department
At 0140 hours, an officer had arrested a subject for driving under the influence of alcohol. The heavily intoxicated 22 year old female passenger was provided a courtesy ride to ECPD to wait for the release of the driver. While waiting in the front lobby of the El Cerrito Police Department, the woman became belligerent and tried to slap an officer in the face. The officer arrested the woman and booked her at the department. After booking, an officer transported both subjects to the Martinez Detention Facility.

August 15th, 2013

Stolen Vehicle- 2300 block of Mira Vista Drive-
An unknown suspect stole a 2012 Honda Accord between the 14th at 2100 hours and the 15th at 0730 hours.

Warrant Arrest/ Miscellaneous- 6500 Knott Avenue- Officers were dispatched to a residence to investigate a possible battery on an elderly person. Officers made contact with the man and were unable to establish if a crime occurred. During the investigation the son was arrested on an outstanding warrant. The son, a 55 year-old El Cerrito man was booked and released with a citation.

Warrant Arrest- Stockton Avenue @ San Pablo Avenue- Officers were dispatched to the listed location to contact a man who was panhandling with his 11 year-old daughter. Upon arrival on scene, officers discovered the man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The man was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and the girl was released to her mother.

Public Intoxication – Kearney Street and Blake Street
At 0015 hours officers responded to the area of Kearney Street and Blake Avenue for a report of four subjects being loud and drinking alcohol. Officers contacted the four subjects loitering on the sidewalk and arrested all of them for public intoxication.

Commercial Burglary – 10100 block of San Pablo Avenue
At 0145 hours, officers responded to an alarm call at a restaurant and found the exterior to be secure. The owner responded 45 minutes later and requested a walkthrough of the interior of the premises. During the walk through officers discovered the restaurant had been burglarized and the office had been lightly ransacked. The suspects left without taking anything.
