DNA evidence linked to 2007 Burglary
On 8/8/2013, a warrant was issued from the Ipswich District Court for Phillip S. Ferlito, age 48, of Medford, Ma. charged with Felony Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime and Malicious Destruction of Property over $250.
The burglary occurred on 9/9/07 at the Daybreak Café located in the downtown area of Topsfield. DNA samples were recovered at the scene and processed through the Mass. State Police Forensic and Technology Center. Allegedly Mr. Ferlito‘s DNA profile was linked through CODIS (Combined DNA Index System).
The charges were filed upon receipt of verification from the State Police Forensic Laboratory prior to the expiration of the six year statute of limitations.
Mr. Ferlito turned himself in to Ipswich District Court on the warrant where he was released on bail for a future court date.
