Female Victim in Johnston Co. Murder/Suicide Positively Identified 
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has positively identified the female victim involved in what OSBI agents believe is a murder/suicide. Arleeta Whitmire, 75, was shot and killed at her home in rural Johnston County Tuesday. When sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, they searched a nearby home where Whitmire’s son and grandson lived. There, they found 14-year-old Ross Whitmire dead of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
