Monday afternoon, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI assistance on a crime scene with two deceased individuals.

Neighbors trying to deliver fresh vegetables, found a female victim inside a home at 11700 Highway 48 South, just outside Coleman. It appears she died from a gunshot wound to the head. Deputies then checked a nearby house and found 14-year-old Ross Whitmire dead of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The medical examiner will perform an autopsy on both bodies for an official cause and manner of death. Doctors will also confirm the identity of the female victim. Her wounds were so significant, OSBI will not release the name until her identity is confirmed.

The OSBI is investigating this case as a murder suicide at this time.
