5 individuals arrested over the weekend.

On 7-26-13 at 3:23 A.M. Estherville Police were dispatched to Casey’s East in reference to a driver slumped over the steering wheel of his car. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver, later identified as, 52 year old Troy Dahl of Estherville. Officers determined that Dahl had driven the vehicle to Casey’s East while under the influence. Dahl was placed under arrest for Operating While Intoxicated 5th Offense, Driving While Barred Habitual Offender, Failure to File SR-22 Insurance, and Operation without Interlock Device. Dahl was transported to the Emmet County Jail for incarceration. He is being held on $25,000 cash only bond. Dahl was also found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Dickinson County and is also being held on that charge.

On 7-26-13 at 11:45 A.M. Estherville Police arrested 57 year old Deb Acord on 2 outstanding warrants from Emmet County. The charges were for Dependent Adult Abuse and Ongoing Criminal Conduct and were filed as a result of an ongoing investigation between the Iowa Department of Human Services and the Estherville Police Department. The investigation indicates that between the dates of November 2012 and May 2013, Acord took a large amount of money from an elderly victim. Acord was transported to the Emmet County Jail where she later posted bond and was released.

On 7-26-13 at 7:59 P.M. Estherville Police were dispatched to 1228 1st Ave South in reference to a disturbance. During the course of the investigation it was determined that 56 year old James Rask had trespassed on the property. Rask was subsequently arrested and charged with Trespassing and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Rask was transported to the Emmet County Jail. Rask was later released on a $650.00 unsecured bond.

On 7-28-13 at approximately 1:55 A.M. the Estherville Police Department were dispatched to Avera Holy Family Hospital in reference to a vehicle being taken from their parking lot. Upon arrival Officers met with the female complainant who advised that her vehicle had been taken from the parking lot while she was assisting a family member in the hospital emergency room, the owner was also able to give a possible suspect in the theft.

Approximately 3 minutes later at 1:58 A.M. Estherville Police were dispatched to 1739 1st Avenue North in reference to a disturbance. At the apartment Officers located a broken out window with blood on it. Inside the residence, officers located 27 year old Julio Barjas,of Estherville. Barajas was a suspect in the stolen vehicle investigation. Barjas was transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital where he was treated for minor cuts. Upon completion of the investigation, Barjas was charged with Operation without Owners Consent, Operating while Intoxicated, Trespass, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. Barjas was transported to the Emmet County Jail. He later appeared in front of a Magistrate and was released on an unsecured bond.

On 7-28-13 at approximately 2:20 P.M. Estherville Police Arrested Trent Dean Hereen age 21 on 3 arrest warrants. The Charges stem from a Domestic Assault Investigation that began on 7-23-13. Hereen was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault, Child Endangerment, and False Imprisonment. Hereen was transported to the Emmet County Jail. Hereen appeared in front a Magistrate and later posted bond and was released.
