Attention Rutgers Community-
The New Brunswick City Police Department is investigating a robbery which has been reported to have occurred on Friday, July 20, 2013 between 1:30 AM and 2:00 AM. This incident occurred in the area of Suydam Street and Jones Avenue, adjacent to the Jameson Residence Hall on the Rutgers Douglass Campus.
In this incident the victim, an affiliated student, reported that while walking in the area he was approached by a group of individuals who he did not know. The victim reported that upon being approached by the group, one of the perpetrators sprayed him in the face with an unknown liquid, temporarily disorienting him. At the same time, another member of the group displayed a handgun and demanded victim’s property. The victim reported that the group then fled the area in a dark colored vehicle. The victim received treatment at a local area hospital for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.
The description of the assailants is limited at this time. They are described as follows:
Assailant 1 – Dark skinned black male, heavy set build with small dreadlocks
Assailant 2 – Heavy set black male
Assailant 3 – Skinny white male with short hair

The Rutgers University Police Department reminds you that you can reduce your chances of being a crime victim by taking reasonable precautions, including:
Remain alert and aware of the people and circumstances around you;
Immediately report suspicious activity to local law enforcement; and
Walk in groups when traveling during late night hours.
