Parking at 400 Main Street and Intersection at First and State Street Closed Effective Monday, July 15

Effective Monday, July 15, parking will no longer be accessible at 400 Main Street, located at the corner of Main and First Streets.

The final stage of the City of Los Altos’ First Street Streetscape Project Phase 1B will require the intersection at First and State Streets to close for a period of four to six weeks while new sewer lines and storm drains are installed. This intersection closure will result in driveway access to 400 Main Street to be blocked.

Downtown Parking Alternatives

With the closure of 400 Main Street parking, downtown employees are encouraged to participate in the City’s Employee Parking Program. The cost of an Employee Parking Permit is $36 annually and allows for all-day parking in White Dot spaces in any of the Parking Plazas. To purchase an employee parking permit, visit www.losaltosca.gov/police or visit the Police Department at 1 N. San Antonio Road.

Customers are encouraged to park in one of the three Downtown Parking Plazas. All-day Customer Parking Permits are also available for purchase. The cost is $25 for a pack of twenty-five permits, which are valid for all Parking Plazas. Customer Parking Permits can be obtained at City Hall located at 1. North San Antonio Road.

State Street Green

Due to the intersection closure at State and First Streets, State Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between First and Second Streets. The City will be rolling out green synthetic turf on the closed section of State Street during the street closure. The ‘State Street Green’ will be installed on Thursday, July 18. Temporary programming including family concerts, a First Friday Dance Party and the Los Altos Stride and Ride Festival are planned to take place on the Green. For a full list of planned activities and events, please visit www.StateStreetGreen.com.
