A roadside safety checkpoint will be conducted on Friday, June 28 in cooperation with the Illinois State Police.

The Illinois State Police and Huntley Police Department will conduct a joint roadside safety checkpoint in Huntley on the evening of June 28, 2013.

Officers working this detail will be watchful for drivers who are driving under the influence, transporting open alcoholic beverages, operating unsafe vehicles and driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license. Alcohol and drug Impairment remains a significant factor in over 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois. Safety checks are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road.

The Roadside Safety Check is part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" Campaign and is funded through a grant from the United States Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The grant is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
