Boat Thefts Overnight: Take your keys out of your boats!

Boat Thefts Overnight: Take your keys out of your boats! During the early morning hours of June 24th, the Sanbornton Police Department responded to an abandoned boat which was left running along Black Brook Road. That boat was stolen from Belmont. We then received a report of a boat stolen from Dr True Road. Both of these vessels had their keys left inside.

Please be sure and secure items as best as you can on your boats and remove the keys. This type of joyriding does occur during the summer months and the best way to prevent it from happening to your boat is to remove the keys and not make it easy for them.

For those of you without boats, please remember to lock your cars and keep the doors and windows (especially those accessible from the ground) to your residences locked, even when you are home. There have been some burglaries occurring in the area in which residences have been burglarized while people are sleeping.

Please remember to report any unusual activity to the Sanbornton Police Department. If the activity is on the water, we can notify Marine Patrol and get officer in the area to try and put eyes on the activity.

Thank You
