On June 18, 2013 at 0606 hours Sunnyvale DPS personnel responded to a structure fire at 225 Central Avenue. The structure is a single story single family residence. Upon arrival, there were heavy flames and smoke coming from the residence.
During the firefighting efforts crews located a body in the kitchen area. According to the neighbors, there is a single occupant of the residence but the identity of the victim has not been determined as of this release. The Santa Clara County Arson Task Force is assisting Sunnyvale DPS investigators on the cause of the fire due to the fatality. The cause has not been determined at this time.
Sunnyvale DPS responded with a single alarm assignment of 7 apparatus and a Battalion Chief. Santa Clara City Fire Department was called for mutual aid to provide an air supply unit for refilling of breathing bottles.
No injuries were reported from crews at the scene.
