Hartford City Man Injured in Grant County Crash

Marion - This afternoon, at approximately 12:39 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on I-69 near the 264 mile marker, in which a Hartford City man was injured.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Lee Ross revealed that Michael Lehman, 40, Hartford City, IN, was driving a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on I-69 near the 264 mile marker. Lehman was allegedly passing a line of traffic when the motorcycle drove onto the median rumple strips. The motorcycle then careened out of control, into the median, ejecting Lehman from the motorcycle.

Samaritan Helicopter flew Lehman from the crash scene to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne. Lehman sustained life threatening injuries in the crash. He was not wearing a helmet.

This is an ongoing investigation, but at this time neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to this crash.

Trooper Ross was assisted at the crash scene by Trooper Jeremy Perez, the Marion Fire Department, and Grant Count EMS.
