Storm and Flood Warning:
A flood watch remains in effect from 8am this morning through Saturday morning.
The storm system will intensify as it approaches today and is expected to pass south and east of Long Island tonight through Friday morning. This is a slow moving system that is expected to produce heavy rain at times. Rainfall totals from 1.5 to 3 inches are expected, with some areas possibly receiving up to 4 inches of rain. These rainfall amounts may possibly result in flooding of rivers, ponds and streams, as well as poor drainage areas.
In addition, strong winds are also expected with this system late tonight into Friday morning. Winds are forecasted to be in the 20-30 mph range, with gusts to 40-50 mph. Saturated grounds will make trees and power lines more susceptible to falling.
