Advisory

Issues at the PSE&G switch yard cause for yesterday's power outage.

The electric substation located on Willet Avenue is fed by two (2) circuits that come from the PSE&G switch yard.

On Tuesday night, the PSE&G switch yard shut down due to an explosion. Once discovered, PSE&G worked diligently to repair one (1) circuit to re-feed our substation, which left the Borough without power for approximately an hour and a half.

As of this moment, the electric substation is being fed by only one (1) circuit while PSE&G is working to repair their damaged equipment. Time frame to replace the additional circuit may take 4-7 days.

With the threat of an oncoming storm, the South River Police Department and the Office of Emergency Management remind everyone to be diligent in their preparedness plans such as ensuring they have a fresh supply of batteries for flashlights, an ample gas supply for their generators and any other items that would help them prepare.
