The Okfuskee County Sheriff’s Department requested OSBI assistance with a police-involved shooting that happened in Paden overnight. At approximately 3 a.m., the deputy responded to a domestic dispute call in the 900 block of S. Walnut. A man, unrelated to the call, approached the deputy with a shotgun. The deputy told the man several times to drop the weapon. Instead, the man turned toward the deputy with the shotgun. The deputy fired his weapon killing Curtis Fipps (d.o.b. 5-31-1969). Fipps died at the scene. Fipps lived in the area.

OSBI agents are working with sheriff’s deputies collecting information from witnesses and processing the crime scene. Once the investigation is completed, OSBI will deliver a full report to the district attorney. The district attorney will determine if the shooting is justified.
