Crime Reduction Strategies Lead to Robbery and Burglary Suspect Arrests
Oakland, CA — A key part of our crime reduction strategy is to share information with the community. As a result, the community’s informed participation has assisted us to make robbery and burglary arrests.
Oakland, CA — On May 24, 2013, at 12:52 PM, the Oakland Police Department Communications Division received a call from a concerned citizen reporting a suspicious vehicle with one occupant inside. Oakland Police officers responded to 13600 Campus Drive and discovered that the vehicle had been taken in a carjacking out of Hayward on May 22. Officers arrested the male adult suspect in connection with the stolen vehicle.
On May 24, 2013, at 2:13 PM, an off-duty Oakland Police officer observed a suspect breaking into parked vehicles in the 700 block of Jefferson Street. The off-duty officer contacted OPD Dispatch and provided information to responding units. When officers arrived on scene, they arrested one male juvenile suspect in connection with the auto burglaries.
On May 25, 2013, at 4:30 PM, Oakland Police officers on crime reduction patrol observed two subjects running from the area of the 4400 block of Telegraph Avenue. The subjects got into a vehicle and began driving away. At the same time, OPD Dispatch advised that a business in the area had just been robbed at gunpoint. Officers were able to detain the two subjects. During the preliminary investigation, officers recovered an illegally possessed, loaded firearm. The two male adult subjects were arrested in connection with the armed robbery. Investigators believe these two subjects may be responsible for additional robberies.
On May 25, 2013, at 7:15 PM, Oakland Police officers responded to a report of a strong arm robbery. The victim had contacted OPD Dispatch and was able to direct officers to the suspect’s location. The male adult suspect was arrested in connection with the robbery, and partial loss was recovered.
