DUI/DL CHECKPOINT RESULTS
Checkpoint in Cotati Nets 19 Drivers
Cotati, California – On Friday night May 24, 2013 between the hours of 6:00pm and 12:00am Saturday morning, the AVOID the 13 Sonoma County DUI Task Force conducted a DUI and Driver’s License Checkpoint in the City of Cotati. The checkpoint was set up to screen WB drivers on East Cotati Avenue at LaPlaza near downtown. The purpose of the checkpoint operation was to inform the motoring public of the dangers associated with impaired driving and to take enforcement action against impaired drivers and those driving with a suspended license or no license at all.
The checkpoints reported the following results:
1,155 vehicles through the two checkpoints
1,155 drivers screened by officers for signs of DUI and license checks
50 drivers directed into nearby parking area for further investigation.
19 drivers arrested.
1 drivers arrested for DUI
7 drivers arrested for driving with a suspended license
11 drivers arrested were for driving without a license
3 vehicles towed from checkpoint
3 vehicles impounded for 30 days.
Enforcement results from the county-wide efforts for Avoid the 13 Sonoma County DUI Task Force will be reported later today when the 13 agencies report their DUI arrest and alcohol involved collision numbers. Funding for this program and the AVOID the 13 DUI Task Force has been provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
