RENOVATED LOS BANOS PAL JUNIOR GIANTS FIELD TO BE DEDICATED
Buster Posey, Toyota Dealers, Giants Community Fund & Good Tidings Foundation Team Up With
Los Banos Police Activities League to Benefit At-Risk Youth
(Los Banos, CA, May 28, 2013) – As baseball season heats up, the Giants Community Fund continues to pitch in to keep at-risk youth running the bases this summer. On Tuesday, May 28, 2013, representatives of the Giants Community Fund, Toyota dealers, the Good Tidings Foundation and the Los Banos Police Activities League will gather to dedicate the Los Banos PAL Junior Giants Field at the 7th Street Park in Los Banos.
Late last year, the Junior Giants teamed up with Buster Posey and Toyota dealerships to allow fans to vote on Facebook for a Junior Giants field to receive a makeover. After six weeks of voting, the Los Banos Junior Giants won the contest and $20,000 in renovations, facilitated by the Good Tidings Foundation.
With funding from the aforementioned partners, the Los Banos PAL Junior Giants Field will provide a safe location for local kids to play ball. The field features a new mound, homeplate, bases and irrigation system, as well as fresh infield sod and a fresh coat of AT&T Park Green paint on the fencing, storage containers, snack bar and score booth.
Junior Giants, the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund, uses baseball as a forum to teach life skills to youth throughout Northern and Central California, Nevada, and Oregon. Projects such as field renovations, coaches, clinics and glove drives contribute to a sense of ownership and pride throughout leagues in over 155 communities.
