Indianapolis Woman Charged with Stealing over $190,000 from Employer
Hendricks Co., IN- An Indianapolis woman was arrested on a Hendricks County warrant on May 24, 2013 and has been charged with two counts of theft, after a three month State Police investigation.
Detective Roger Logsdon, of the Indiana State Police Crime and Corruption Unit, began the investigation after receiving information from the suspects employer, TABS Distribution, Inc., 52 N. Indiana Street, Danville IN. TABS Distribution , Inc. operates four Sun Spots tanning salons in Avon, Brownsburg, Danville and Plainfield. The employer had noticed that deposits made to the bank by the office manager, Katherine Schiewer, 30, of Indianapolis, did not match the deposits that she had received from the four salons.
An internal audit conducted by TABS Distribution revealed that Schiewer had allegedly deposited
$ 198,955.80 into her personal account from deposits she had received from the four tanning salons. The alleged thefts had been taking place since 2008 after Schiewer was promoted to office manager and become responsible for the four salons weekly deposits.
Investigators learned that a portion of the money had been used for vacations to Florida and Las Vegas, Lasik surgery and shopping trips.
Schiewer was arrested at her residence by Detective Logsdon with the assistance of the Speedway Police Department and transported to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center without incident.
