Shooting suspect arrested.
On May 20, 2013 at approximately 9:45 pm, Deputies were dispatched to the 11000 block of Old Redwood Highway, Windsor regarding a drive by shooting at a residence.
Upon arrival deputies contacted the victim who said they were at home when they heard a vehicle slow down in front of their residence and immediately heard four gunshots, they then heard the vehicle speed away southbound on Old Redwood Highway. One of the victim’s was able to give a description of the vehicle as a black Honda Civic type vehicle. The victim’s were not hit by the gun fire but the victim’s vehicle that was in the driveway was struck all four times.
Through investigation deputies were able to develop a suspect who was identified as Christopher Gornowicz, 22 years old from Rohnert Park. Gornowicz is the ex boyfriend of one of the victims. Deputies located Gornowicz’ vehicle on Tapadera Drive in Santa Rosa. Gornowicz was subsequently arrested in a residence on Tapadera Drive. Inside his vehicle deputies located two spent shell casings on the front passenger seat and driver’s floorboard. When Gornowicz was arrested deputies located an assault type rifle in his residence. Gornowicz was booked in the Sonoma County Jail for Shooting at an inhabited dwelling, his bail was set at $100,000.
Two deputies in one patrol vehicle who were responding to the shooting incident northbound Highway 101 near the Golf Course exit collided with a Toyota pickup. The driver and passenger of the Toyota complained of minor pain but did not need medical attention. The deputies were not injured but the patrol car sustained major damage.
