WHERE: Foothill Boulevard at the entrance to Mustang Village Apartment Complex

San Luis Obispo Police and Fire Departments responded to a major injury collision between a motorcyclist and an SUV. The motorcyclist, identified as San Luis Obispo resident Philip Jones 21 years old, was riding West on Foothill passing the Mustang Village Apartment Complex. The driver of the SUV, an 18 year old female resident of San Luis Obispo, was traveling East on Foothill preparing to make a left turn into Mustang Village. The driver of the SUV failed to see Smith and made her left turn striking Smith and his motorcycle. Smith was thrown into another vehicle that was stopped and waiting to enter Foothill from Mustang Village.
Smith was transported to a local hospital with significant trauma to his leg. The Injury does not appear to be life threatening. No other injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. The collision does not appear to be criminal in nature.
