Details:
On May 18, 2013 at approximately 1832 hours, Gilroy Police Communications received multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding several gunshots heard in the area of the 7500 block of Alexander Street, Gilroy.
Officers arrived at the scene and contacted multiple victims & witnesses. The preliminary investigation revealed the following: The unknown suspect(s) confronted and fired multiple shots at the victim with a disclosed type of handgun. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a bay area trauma center. The suspect(s) fled the scene on foot, last seen running southbound on Alexander Street.
As a result of the preliminary investigation, officers conducted a probation compliance check of a residence which was near the crime scene. Multiple subjects (names withheld) were contacted during the compliance check and interviewed.
The California Highway Patrol, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and Morgan Hill Police Department responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation.
The Department’s Anti-Crime Team is investigating this incident as a gang motivated crime.
The investigation remains active and on-going. The identity of the suspect(s) is pending further investigation.
