Suspect wanted for Attempted Murder in Carpinteria. The search is on for a suspect following a stabbing at Motel 6.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are searching for a suspect who stabbed a 44-year-old hotel resident in Carpinteria around 10:15 p.m. last night, May 16th. The suspect, who is known to the victim as “Rob”, is wanted for attempted murder and is still at large. The stabbing occurred in front of the victim’s room at the Motel 6 in the 4200 block of Via Real in Carpinteria. The victim’s roommate ran into the lobby following the stabbing to alert the hotel clerk to call 9-1-1 for help. The suspect had fled the scene.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputies and Paramedics responded and located the stabbing victim. He was taken to the hospital where he gave Deputies a description of the suspect and a first name. The victim said the suspect was a half black, half Indian male adult, approximately 30-40 years of age, 5’9” tall with a stocky build, curly hair and was wearing a white t-shirt. He said the suspect was named “Rob” and that the two worked together and reportedly had an altercation and argument several months prior.

Deputies along with the assistance of two K9 Specialty Units and California Highway Patrol Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Detectives are actively working this investigation. The suspect is wanted for Attempted Murder.
