(HOUSTON, TX) – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is making it easier for the public to search misdemeanor warrant information by now making such information available online.
As a 21st century leading law enforcement agency using technology to provide the best public service to the citizens of Harris County, the HCSO is making misdemeanor warrant information available electronically at http://www.harriscountyso.org/warrants_search.aspx
The HCSO’s online warrant search provides information related only to Class A and Class B misdemeanor warrants and other processes issued by a Harris County Criminal Court at Law.
Persons whose name appears on the list should act immediately to avoid arrest.
They may post bail in the form of a surety bond obtained through a licensed bail bondsman; deposit cash in the amount of the bail; or surrender and request that a magistrate release him/her on a personal bond without sureties or other security.
Bail may be posted at the HCSO’s Bonding Desk at 49 San Jacinto in downtown Houston. The HCSO’s Bonding Desk is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
Class A misdemeanors carry punishments of a fine of up to $4,000 and/or a jail sentence of up to one year. Examples of Class A misdemeanors include:
• DWI - second offense
• Unlawful carrying of a weapon
• Public lewdness
Class B misdemeanors carry punishments of a fine of up to $2,000, and/or a jail sentence of up to 180 days. Examples of Class B misdemeanors include:
• Driving while intoxicated (DWI) - first offense
• Prostitution
• Criminal trespass
