DETECTIVES SEEKING ADDITIONAL WITNESSES FROM THE LIBERTY VILLAGE OUTLETS THAT MAY HAVE SEEN ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS OR VEHICLES

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and
Flemington Police Chief George Becker are reporting that Detectives are seeking additional witnesses in the armed robbery that occurred at Roman Jewelers, located on Route 12 adjacent to the Liberty Village shopping center in Flemington on May 5th.
On Sunday, May 5th at approximately 12:21 pm, five black males brandished handguns as they took over the jewelry store which was occupied by customers and employees.
Detectives from the Flemington Police Department and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, as well as the FBI, are currently working several leads and are requesting assistance from anyone that may have witnessed anything in the parking lots near Roman Jewelers.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “We have learned that there are witnesses that observed the suspects fleeing from Roman Jewelers and running into the main Liberty Village parking lot. Witnesses may have also observed the vehicles used by the suspects to flee the scene. Anyone that witnessed any events prior, during, and after the armed robbery and has not formally spoken to the investigating agencies are urged to contact the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office. Some of the witnesses did not remain in the area after the incident and it is important that they contact us to be interviewed.”
The Prosecutor added, “Detectives are attempting to verify if there were additional suspects outside the store or if any additional vehicles were used by the suspects.”
Anyone who may have witnessed anything or may have come in contact with the individuals and vehicles described in this release are asked to contact the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office or Flemington Police Department at (908) 788-1129 or (908) 782-3435.
