The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred this morning. At about 7:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, a SUV traveling northbound on Fielder Road entered the intersection and struck a car that had been in the southbound lanes and was turning left across the northbound lanes of traffic. The SUV and car collided, causing the SUV to strike a third vehicle. The SUV also hit the signal light pole in the northeast corner of the intersection.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles had minor injuries.
The intersection of Park Row Drive and S. Fielder Road will be closed for much of the day due to the damage of a signal pole. The temporary closure will involve removing downed power lines and repairing a signal light box on the northeast corner of the intersection. The repairs could take six or seven hours to complete.
