The Gilroy Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team (ACT) assumed this investigation based on the fact that it was motivated by gang affiliation. As a result of their continuous investigation, ACT Detectives have identified six suspects and taken four of those into custody. All four suspects were arrested separately without any incident. Suspect Garza and Suspect Vera remain at large and currently have active arrest warrants.

Details:
On April 27, 2013 at approximately 1954 hours, Gilroy Police Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Farrell Avenue, Gilroy regarding a large fight. The reporting party indicated one of the involved parties had a handgun.
Officers arrived at the scene and contacted multiple victims & witnesses. The preliminary investigation revealed the following: Unknown suspects created a disturbance at a specific residence on Farrell Avenue. An unknown suspect fired several shots from an unknown type of handgun at subjects involved in the fight; a subject (identity withheld) was stabbed; and other subjects were physically assaulted during the disturbance.
The subjects who were physically assaulted suffered non-life threatening injuries and declined medical attention. The subject who was stabbed suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. At this time, no gunshot victims have been identified or have come forward to police.
The Department’s Anti-Crime Team is investigating this incident as a gang motivated crime.
