The West Covina Police Department’s Youth Explorer Program has received a $2,500 grant from Kaiser Permanente. West Covina’s Explorer Program is open to youth between the ages of 14 and 21. The Explorers attend a 13-week Academy focusing on law, discipline, and self control, and then meet weekly at the Police Department for continued training. “This is a low cost program that engages the participants’ minds and bodies, provides mentoring, and exposes them to the police profession as an avenue of future employment” says Police Chief Frank Wills. “This grant funding from our generous partner Kaiser Permanente will help pay for supplies and team building events.”
