A Probation Search Has Resulted In Two Arrests And The Seizure Of Methamphetamine.

Public Information Release
May 10, 2013
Lieutenant Steve Brooks, Public Information Officer

Proactive enforcement efforts by the Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force, has resulted in two arrests and the seizure of methamphetamine.

On Thursday, May 9, 2013 at approximately 7:30 am, narcotics detectives conducted a probation search of 42 year old Kyan Jordan Vandyke who was living in a motor home located in the 1900 block of the Nice Lucerne Cutoff. Also living in the motor home was 31 year old Jasmine Leigh Schrade. During the search detectives located a pair of pants next to the bed. A search of the pockets revealed a glass pipe in the right front pocket, which is commonly used to ingest methamphetamine. A wallet was located in the left rear pocket of the pants which contained identification belonging to Vandyke.

Narcotics detectives located a safe inside a closet. Neither Vandyke nor Schrade claimed ownership of the safe. They also denied knowing the combination to the safe or what was inside it. Detectives opened the safe and located several hypodermic needles, metal spoons, two boxes of 9mm ammunition, another glass “meth” pipe and a plastic bag containing methamphetamine. Also inside the safe were documents belonging to Schrade who eventually admitted that the contents of the safe belonged to both her and Vandyke.

Vandyke was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance and for violating the terms of his probation. Schrade was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia and for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Both subjects were transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility and booked.

The Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force will continue its efforts to eradicate narcotics from the communities of Lake County and seize the suspected profits of drug trafficking for the asset forfeiture whenever possible.
