Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety is informing residents that at 1:00 pm today a controlled burn by a private contractor will be conducted east of the Pier Park along Lake Shore Road. This controlled burn will help destroy invasive plant species and promote the growth of native plant communities.
Residents may see smoke, possibly heavy at times. The Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety will have fire apparatus and officers on scene to oversee this event that should last approximately 1-2 hours. At this time there are no plans to divert Lake Shore Road traffic. If traffic is diverted the alternative suggested route is Kercheval Avenue or Mack Avenue.
