2013 CALIFORNIA PEACE OFFICERS’ MEMORIAL CEREMONIES
Community members and law enforcement leaders from across the state will gather at the California Peace Officers Memorial Monument during two events to honor officers lost in the line of duty.
Last night, a candlelight vigil was held at the monument at 10th Street and Capitol Mall in Sacramento. Today, a dedication ceremony will be held at the monument. Officers who died in 2012 will be honored as well as officers who died in previous years also will be enshrined in the memorial.
A candlelight vigil will be held May 13 at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., to honor 321 peace officers from across the nation who have died protecting their communities. That week is designated as National Police Week.
