Modesto, CA – On Sunday, May 05, 2013, at 2:45 am Sheriff Deputies responded to several 911 calls of two subjects shot in the 1400 Block of Garden Avenue in Modesto, CA. When deputies arrived they found two adult males with gunshot wounds in the front yard of the residence. 32 year Ricardo Ramirez of Modesto was unconscious when deputies arrived and despite CPR attempts by emergency medical personnel he succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead on scene. The second victim, 62 year old Fidel Ramirez was transported to a local area hospital for his injuries and is expected to survive.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators worked through out the night processing the crime scene and interviewing witnesses in order to determine what led to the shooting. Detectives know that there was a family party held in the front yard of the residence. Fidel and Ricardo are father and son who reside at a different residence. During the party, Fidel and Ricardo Ramirez were heard arguing with a cousin, 35 year old Rigoberto Rosales of Modesto when gunshots were fired.
Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Rosales for homicide and spent the day trying to find him. They did have issues with getting information from uncooperative family members who were present when Ricardo was shot. Detectives know that Rosales is paralyzed and in a wheel chair, but should still be considered armed and dangerous. The autopsy for the victim is scheduled for Monday morning and detectives are not releasing any specific details of the investigation.
