Search warrant service leads to siezure of marijuana and military grade assault weapons

On May 1, 2013 members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, Narcotics Task Force, and Major Crimes Unit served a search warrant on approximately 681 acres of property in the area of Junction Plaza in Clearlake Oaks. The property was owned by Ryan Alan Balletto, who was suspected in the illegal cultivation of marijuana. Deputies also served a search warrant at Balletto’s home in North Lakeport.

As a result of the searches 1491 marijuana plants were eradicated. Over $4000.00 in cash was seized. 22 weapons consisting of high powered military grade sniper and assault rifles, automatic assault rifles and pistols, in addition to ammunition, high capacity magazines, military grade body armor, and military grade scopes were seized. This has been the largest and most sophisticated bulk of weapons seized in recent Lake County Sheriff’s Office history.

Balletto, his girlfriend Christa McConnell and his associate Patrick Pearmain were arrested. Five children were removed from the home in North Lakeport and taken into custody by CPS. Balletto was booked on drug and weapons charges with his bail set at $10,000,000. McConnell was booked on weapons and child endangerment charges with her bail set at $200,000. Pearmain was book on drug charges with his bail set at $1,000.000.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives are also investigating Balletto and Pairmain for violation of numerous sex related crimes. The investigation is ongoing and more details will be provided in the future.
