Man Struck on I-465
Indianapolis, IN- A man is recovering from injuries he suffered after running into traffic on I-465 early this afternoon.
On May 3rd, approximately 12:20 p.m., Indiana State troopers were dispatched to I-465 SB at the 40.9 mm after receiving reports of a person being struck.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a white male was observed standing on the right lane emergency shoulder watching traffic and suddenly jumped in front of a 2012 Nissan being driven by Cheryl L. Wright, 46, of Indianapolis. The man, after being struck, ran across all SB lanes, crossed the concrete median wall and collapsed.
Wright was not injured and troopers do not suspect any impairment of the driver.
The man was transported to Methodist Hospital and treated for leg, back and head injuries. He remains unidentified at this time as he did not have any identification on his person and was not able to speak to investigating troopers.
All lanes of I-465 SB were closed for approximately 45 minutes while the crash was investigated. The left lane of NB I-465 was also closed so emergency workers could tend to the patient.
Investigating troopers: Trooper Justin Hobbs, Trooper Shana Kennedy, Trooper Troy Sunier, Indiana State Police.
