United Water crews continue to work on repairs at the corner of Jackson Street and Newark Street. Repairs are expected to continue at least through Friday evening, so drivers are strongly urged to anticipate significant delays in southwest Hoboken, provide extra travel time, and avoid the area if possible by considering alternate routes through northern Hoboken.
The City of Hoboken OEM and Police Department coordinated with Jersey City, Port Authority, NJ Transit and County police agencies to develop a traffic management plan. Drivers are advised of the following traffic pattern changes for this evening:
• Marin Boulevard will be changed to all lanes northbound, with no lanes southbound. All vehicles from Marin Blvd will be directed east onto Observer Highway.
• Grove Street will be changed to all lanes southbound, with no lanes northbound.
• Harrison Street will remain open southbound onto Jersey Avenue.
• Monroe Street traffic will be directed southbound through Grove Street.
The traffic changes are designed to simplify routes into and out of Hoboken and minimize conflicts at intersections. Police officers from all agencies will be on hand to direct traffic. Newark Street is closed west of Monroe Street and Jersey Avenue is closed north of 18th Street in Jersey City.
