Identity theft prevention - Crime Stoppers event and you!
Common would be thieves dumpster-dive looking for your personal information including receipts, invoices, personal or business tax documents, pay stubs, credit card bills and credit applications. These items need to be destroyed properly to guarantee your safety and peace of mind. It’s a great idea to have a shredder at home to destroy these items as they become unneeded. There are times when you may not be able to properly dispose of some of these items due to cost or the sheer volume that needs to be purged. It may become necessary to take those items to a professional, which can become costly. Amarillo Crime Stoppers and Student Crime Stoppers of Amarillo want to help prevent you from becoming a victim of identity theft. This Saturday, May 4th from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM we will be hosting our 6th Annual “Shred it Day”. We will be located in the parking lot of Market Street United, 2530 S Georgia. Document Shredding and Storage will be on site with drop bins and a large mobile shredder. We will accept up to 4 boxes (copy paper size or similar) or 4 bags (kitchen/shopping bags or similar) for disposal. Please bring out items such as old checkbooks, paperwork, tax paperwork and receipts as well as other items you no longer want or need and are afraid to throw away. Please no metal or household trash. This is a fundraiser and Crime Stoppers volunteer board members will be on site to collect donations.
