WOMAN SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS FOR HUSBAND’S 1987 MURDER

(HOUSTON, TX) – A Harris County jury has convicted a woman to 25 years in prison for the 1987 murder of her husband in north Harris County.

Today, April 26, 2013, Norma Jean Clark, 64, was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 25 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the 1987 murder of her husband Edmund Clark.

On April 22, 1987, Edmund Clark was found shot to death inside his home at 22902 Laurelwood. His wife, Norma Clark, told investigators at the time that intruders entered the family home and killed her husband. After the initial investigation stalled the case went cold and remained unsolved. Mrs. Clark relocated to Tennessee.

In 2010 the HCSO’s Cold Case Unit looked at the case again. Physical evidence from the crime scene was identified by the cold case investigators and examined by the HCSO Crime Scene Unit. Physical evidence was developed that linked Ms. Clark to the death of her husband and refuted her original story to police.

Armed with new evidence and witness accounts, cold case investigators were able to charge Norma Clark with the death of her husband and extradite her to Houston from Tennessee where she was living.

A photo of Mrs. Clark, as well as her victim is attached.

This is the second conviction in as many days of suspects in cold cases investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit.
