Advisory

Please Keep Dogs on a Leash

Please Keep Dogs on a Leash

It is important that all residents and visitors to the City of Menlo Park feel safe. The Menlo Park Police Department asks that dog owners and handlers respect their fellow citizens and leash their dogs within the City of Menlo Park. Menlo Park’s leash laws are intended to protect the health and safety of both the people and pets that enjoy visiting the many parks and open areas.

Dogs are permitted to roam free on private property; however, when a dog is off private property, it must be leashed at all times except in designated areas. Free-roaming dogs might be considered a hazard to pedestrians and are in danger of being struck by cars.

It is a violation of the Menlo Park Municipal Code (Section 9.12.010) to leave dogs unsupervised. All dogs must be on a leash and the owner must be in control of their dogs at all times.

The City of Menlo Park has two parks that have designated off-leash areas and hours:
1) Nealon Park: 800 Middle Ave. Behind the tennis courts – Monday – Friday 8am – 10am only
AND
2) Willow Oaks Park: Willow Road at Coleman Avenue – 7 Days a Week – 7am – 9am & 4pm – Dusk

Failure to comply with this ordinance shall constitute a violation of the municipal code. Menlo Park officers will be enforcing this ordinance. If you have any questions, please call (650) 330-6300.
