Modesto – Detectives are now investigating the double shooting in the 400 Block of Briggs Avenue as a homicide after one of the adult males died at the hospital. Detectives know that there was a large party attended by adults and children in the 400 Block of Briggs Avenue when an SUV stopped in front of the residence. One of the occupants in the SUV began to challenge the people at the party, which started an argument. The argument escalated into one of the occupants shooting at people attending the party and an unidentified person attending the party began to shoot back.
An 18 year old male was shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries and he was transported to the emergency room. The SUV left the scene and was pulled over by an Modesto PD officer at California Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive. The officer contacted the occupants and found that one of them, a 21 year old male from Patterson, CA had been shot. The male was transported to a local area hospital where he later died of his injuries.
