Thursday morning Accident with Injuries on State Road 65 near Owensville Community School 
At approximately 7:45 AM this morning, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Owensville Community School in reference to an accident with injuries involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Laura Burkett (32 yoa) of rural Owensville, was eastbound turning northbound onto State Road 65 from the north-end entrance to the Owensville Community School, when Burkett pulled into the path of a southbound 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Daniel Hipp (18 yoa) of rural Fort Branch. Hipp was ejected from the motorcycle on impact, and struck Burkett’s vehicle. Burkett stated that she did not see the southbound motorcycle prior to entering the highway. Burkett was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Hipp was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. No citations were issued to either driver.
Hipp was conscious, alert, and speaking with Deputies and emergency crews at the accident scene. Hipp was transported to an Evansville hospital for non-life threatening injuries to his lower body. Gibson County EMS and Owensville-Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office.
