MEDIA RELEASE – MARCH 1, 2012
HUNTERDON PROSECUTOR ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF
CRIME STOPPERS TIPLINE
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III is proud to announce the launch of Crime Stoppers of Hunterdon County. This nonprofit organization (501c3 pending) is managed by volunteers and will offer cash rewards for tips leading to the arrest or indictment of persons involved in crimes.
Crime Stoppers of Hunterdon County is operated by a board of directors, initially appointed by Prosecutor Kearns, comprised of local citizens who are governed by their own by-laws. They authorize disbursements of rewards to tipsters and procure funds through fundraising activities. Crime Stoppers of Hunterdon County is a member of Crime Stoppers USA, a nationwide program that works to help prevent and solve crimes in communities and schools.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “The program is based on the principal that members of the community may have information that they believe can help solve a crime, but may fear reprisal or be reluctant to get involved. Crime Stoppers of Hunterdon County resolves these challenges by offering anonymity to those who wish to provide information about crimes and paying rewards when the information supplied leads to an arrest or indictment. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still collect reward money.”
Prosecutor Kearns added, “This is a proven model across the nation, and in communities throughout New Jersey. Most importantly, it engages the community in the deterrence of crime, to ensure that Hunterdon County remains a place we all want to call home.”

2. Submit the tip online at www.crimestoppershunterdon.com. Click on the submit tips button and fill out the online form. Tipster will receive a unique code number and password.

4. Download free mobile app “Tipsubmit” by public engines, select Hunterdon County. Tipster will receive a unique code number.
Important!!!
At the time the tip is submitted, the tipster will be given a unique tip number / code. Tipsters should keep this number / code in a safe place. This is the only way to collect a reward if their tip leads to an arrest or indictment. This program is not meant to replace 9-1-1 for emergencies that are taking place.
