Victim #1: Name withheld pending notification of next of kin, 44 year-old Male and City of Watsonville Resident.
Details:
On 03/28/2013 at approximately 10:49 pm, Gilroy Police Officers responded to the 2600th Block of Hecker Pass for a report of a solo vehicle collision. Officers arrived and discovered that a black compact vehicle had collided into a tree. The driver and solo occupant was found unresponsive and suffering from major trauma. Emergency Medical Personnel arrived to render aid. Their efforts were met with negative results. The driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Gilroy Fire Emergency Medical Personnel.
Members of the Gilroy Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the scene and assume the investigation. They worked through the night and morning hours to gather evidence in an attempt to determine any contributing factors to the collision.
This incident continues to be an active investigation.
