The MPPD Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) was awarded the Peninsula Council of Lions Club – SERVICE AWARD

The Menlo Park Police Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) was awarded the Peninsula Council of Lions Club – SERVICE AWARD on Friday, March 22, 2013. Menlo Park Police NET consists of Sergeant Eric Cowans and Detectives Nick Douglas, John DelMundo and Manny Torres

NET is a very active and high producing specialized narcotics unit that works closely with the district attorney’s office and probation and parole departments. Additionally, NET has two detectives that are assigned as task force officers; one to a federal gang/drug task force with the FBI, and one assigned to the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force (NTF). NET utilizes these agencies and two task forces to assist in past and current investigations. NET investigates all drug and gang related crimes within the City of Menlo Park and actively targets all levels of drug trafficking.

In the past year, the NET Detectives have made over 110 arrests, for mostly felony related offenses. The majority of these arrests were either made in the Belle Haven neighborhood or within the city of East Palo Alto.

We believe the day to day operations that NET participates in is a tremendous asset to the overall safety of the community. Recently, NET Detectives were responsible for two major cases that made a tremendous impact within the communities that NET serves. These cases were responsible for taking large quantities of narcotics and gang members off the streets, making the communities of Menlo Park and East Palo Alto safer places for all.
